Bring it on

It was early morning on my thirty-eighth birthday and the house was still quiet, so I sat down to sew. Moving the soft colorful fabrics through my fingers and through my machine was a blissful way to start the day.  I felt so happy and relaxed.  When my sleepy-faced family made their way out of the bedroom, we went out to breakfast.  While we waited for our food our server asked the kids if they would like some home-made play dough.  Both of them molded the soft dough into imaginary things while my husband and I chatted, again, happy and relaxed.  We had loaded up the entire family including the dog for a trip to the park.  They biked.  We walked.  The dog swam.  I found a patch of asters, my birth month flower.  The dog's antics made us laugh over and over. We drove home in the car and as soon as we arrived, I plopped my toddler into bed and snuggled up next to him for a nap.  The most amazing thing happened after that, not a single being disturbed my sleep.   I woke up on my own, feeling even more happy and relaxed.   This is how my day progressed until evening and I kissed each of my children and husband good bye and left for a delightful dinner and a soak with friends.   If that birthday is at all a sign to my upcoming year, I can't wait, bring it on 38!
